Current Open Positions (March 2022)

Graduate student

Glowacak Lab is recruiting a graduate student to work on NSF funded project 'CAREER: Understanding non-photochemical quenching under chilling in the warm-season C4 grasses’.

Post-Doc

Glowacka group at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln (UNL) seeks an experienced and highly motivated post-doctoral associate to study photosynthetic and metabolomics changes under chilling in the C4 warm-season grasses. The successful candidate will work on the NSF project in the Center for Plant Science Innovation and the Department of Biochemistry at the UNL. In this project, we integrate physiology, biochemistry, genetics, metabolomics and field phenomics to reveal the regulation of protective mechanisms against oxidative stress under chilling.  The project involves the use of numerous UNL unique facilities including Spidercam field phenotyping facility (https://ard.unl.edu/phenotyping/field-phenotyping-facility) and REDOX Biology Center (https://redoxbiologycenter.unl.edu/). The successful candidate will have excellent opportunities for interdisciplinary training via collaboration with Biological Systems Engineering Department at UNL and HudsonAlpha Institute for Biotechnology in Alabama.

Position requirements:

The Candidate should have a strong background in plant physiology and/or high-throughput phenotyping and/or metabolomics, preferably with a focus on photosynthetic response under abiotic stresses. The duties of this position require that the candidate has good oral and written communication skills coupled with the ability to work independently and cooperatively.

Start date: summer 2022 or as soon as practically possible.

Salary: commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Appointment Status: 4 years, contingent on performance.
